The day was brisk. Early fall. Leafs started to flutter to the ground with their flurry of colors littering the air. The surroundings of lush forest, babbling creak echoed through the hollows. Two young souls in love, hand in hand, speaking softly about their future. The gentle breeze ran softly through their hair as they embarked on a trail with an unknown end. As they winded through the hollows past the lookout and into the densest of tress the acorns began to fall. With the walk underway, the young man was overwhelmed by the gift he carries for his young lover that walked with him hand in hand. The conversation started with the idea of sharing this beauty that surrounded them and the beauty and love they possessed for each other. Reaching the apex of their journey of the day the young man and woman's focus shifted when they locked eyes in embrace at the perfection of the area they found themselves embraced in. "How perfect would this be for a wedding?" , she spoke. He, at that moment, knew what that gift he carried was. They stood there for what seemed like an eternity when, without warning, the young man spoke, breaking the silence of the gift he was to share. Deeply embracing his young lover the wind dulled and the sun shone brighter, and the world, for that brief moment stood still. "Will you marry me and be my bride", he asked. With a resounding smile and open heart, fighting back the tears, she spoke of the only response that came to her lips and heart, "Yes!"
My fiance Steve wrote this to describe his proposal at the Kortright Centre for Conservation, within the trees, on the exact spot where we will be married 1 year after the proposal. |
