Hi my name is Courtney. Chris and I have the love story that began with one simple question. "Will you play catch with me?".
We met when we were 11 years old on the same local baseball team together. We have now (at age 22) been dating for just over 7 years. This particular weekend in August of 2013, Chris and I were on a camping trip just outside of our hometown on a camping trip with friends. We had made a plan to go to the baseball diamond, where we met, and have a fun game of baseball with all of our friends and family that was able to join us. So on that Saturday morning we all woke from our tents and headed off for a fun day. The girls went to the beach while the boys played a round of golf. We met up later at the beach to have lunch before heading to play ball. We arrive at the diamond and split into 2 teams consisting of my parents and sisters, Chris's grandparents and sisters and all of our friends who were camping with us. We played about 4 or 5 innings and then decided to call it a day. We were all coming in from the field, with plans to meet up at the home plate cage to have some snacks. On his way to home plate, Chris stopped at the bench where he'd left his ball bag. We all were gathered around talking and then I hear out of no where... "Hey Court... .Catch!!!" I turn and Chris had tossed me a baseball. A baseball that changed my life! I caught the ball like always with one hand and looked down and noticed something unusual. It had writing on it. As I turned the ball over, it said "Will you marry me?". Before I could say yes, my legs gave out and I fell to the ground in shock. Chris met up with me, down on one knee. He pulled the ring box out and asked again. "Courtney, will you marry me?" Once I could catch my breath and feel my legs again, I got up to my knees and gave him a huge hug and of course said "YES!!!" The puppy love that started in that same spot over 10 years before was the love that changed my life. |
