Milena and Ivan Puzzle Engagement Story

My name is Milena and my soon-to-be husband's name is Ivan. I met him in Serbia many years ago.
He is 6 years older than me, however, I've known him since I was about 13 as he was my brother's best friend. Of course like a any pre-teen, I thought he was so hot (he was 19).
Flash-forward 5 years later, I go to Serbia with my brother for the winter and after 5 years of not seeing him, we finally "meet" again at this little restaurant. After that, all is history :)
The PROPOSAL! Now flash-forward 2 years later, we have managed to keep up a long-distance relationship, I go to Serbia twice a year for periods of 1 month or more. This past winter in Europe was REALLY REALLY cold. If anyone could recall there was a mini ice age in Europe! All the snow basically stopped everyone from doing anything but either play in the snow or sit inside and keep warm. So we decide at the end of December to go buy a big 1500 piece puzzle and you know, keep ourselves entertained when it's really bad outside! So for the next few weeks we are putting together this puzzle. On January 14, 2012 it was our 2 year anniversary so me and him decide to make some dinner together and he starts asking if I want to put the puzzle together while dinner's cooking. Of course being a girl, I say no, it's our anniversary lets just enjoy dinner. It took him like an hour to convince me to make a little bit of the puzzle. Sure enough, I start rummaging through the box of 1000 pieces looking for a piece of a tree and after about 20 minutes I get frustrated that I can't find it so I spill all the puzzle pieces on the floor and out, from beneath the 1000 puzzle pieces, comes flying a ring. At first I said "I think your someone lost their...." and then I saw his face and realized it was for me so I said YES! Next day it was my birthday but everyone sort of forgot about that and concentrated on my engagement hahaha! So there you have it, really long I know but I hope you found the story interesting. Later he joked how he first wanted to freeze the ring in an ice cube and put it in my drink but then he thought about how bad that could end haha! Now I'm just planning my beautiful wedding to the man that I love! |
